The figure above presents twitter traffic for #climatechange, and any tweets with the terms "climate change" or "climate" for the past month--from 4 May to 3 June 2014. Although the mainstream media picked up President Obama's Clean Power Plan, the overall coverage of the climate issue on Twitter was much lower than when the National Climate Assessment was released on May 6. Nonetheless, Twitter traffic continues to trend much higher than before the Assessment was released.
